The evening admin problem
The pattern in Barnet is consistent: the working day is spent on billable work or on site, and the admin gets pushed to the evening. Quotes go out late, invoices go out later, and follow-up emails do not go out at all. None of that is a capacity problem — it is a sequencing problem.
Moving the inbox, the invoicing and the follow-up to someone whose working day is exactly when yours is busiest changes the sequencing. Work sent at 9am is dealt with by lunchtime rather than at 10pm by whoever is most tired.
